Snow Hounds is an adaptive ski and snowboard club based at John Nike Bracknell dry ski slope
We cater for children and under 18′s with a wide range of disabilities and aim to give them the chance to enjoy the freedom and fun of skiing or snowboarding
We are a group within Disability Snowsport UK, the national disability snowsport charity
Many thanks to the Berkshire Community Foundation’s ‘Give a Child a Chance’ scheme for awarding us a £2,500 grant. This will allow us to purchase a new sit-ski to give more disabled kids the chance to enjoy skiing. Thanks very much !
We avoided the slightly ironic situation of a ski session being cancelled by a bit of snow and had a great session at Bracknell on Sunday. It was challenging for the skiers but everyone had fun and enjoyed the experience in the snow.
Next session is on the 4th of March
Watch this space re. the session on Sunday. Snow is forecast but the session should still go ahead. Please check back here on Sundy morning for news. I will only post if the session is cancelled
We’ve just bought our first new equipment! Thanks to our fund-raising efforts last month and some end-of-line discounts from Salomon (Thanks Salomon !) we’re the proud owners of 10 shiny new helmets
On the 4th of September we’re holding a sponsored ski-athon at Bracknell Dry Ski Slope.
The challenge is for all our skiers to complete 20 runs down the slope, whether this is in a sit-ski, by themselves or with other assistance
We’re raising funds to buy 2 more sit-skis, helmets. tethers and other safety equipment

It looks as though we’ll be getting some hold of some equipment from the Ackers club up in Birmingham that is ceasing to operate.
Its a shame that Ackers will no longer be running but its great news that we’re getting their equipment. Helmets,bi-skis, outriggers and lots of other useful bits will be making their way to Bracknell this weekend
Thanks Ackers !
